Coaticook is farm country at the southern edge of the Eastern Townships, a short drive from the Vermont border. The big three are close: the gorge, Lac Lyster and Mont Pinacle. Everything else on this page is a day trip. Our guides have the drive times and the fine print.
Coaticook
The Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook, with its long suspended footbridge, is the town’s calling card. After dark the same gorge becomes Foresta Lumina, a lit night walk through the forest. The Laiterie de Coaticook handles the ice cream.

Lac Lyster and Mont Pinacle
The lake is less than five minutes from the house, with a beach that looks across the water at Mont Pinacle’s cliff. The mountain has hiking trails and a wide view from the top. It is the one you see glowing from the meadow at sunset.
Magog and Mont-Orford
Magog sits at the north end of Lake Memphremagog, with a waterfront made for a walk and a long lunch. Next door, Parc national du Mont-Orford has lakes, beaches and trails in every season.
North Hatley
A small village at the north end of Lake Massawippi, good for a slow afternoon of galleries, antiques and a terrace by the water.
Sherbrooke
The region’s city, for a rainy day or a proper dinner: museums, murals on downtown walls and a path around Lac des Nations.
The ski hills
Mont Orford, Owl’s Head, Mont Sutton and Bromont are all day trips from here. Nothing is ski-in, ski-out, and we would rather say so now. Bromont also skis at night.

Nearby Vermont
Newport, Lake Willoughby, Jay Peak and the rest of the Northeast Kingdom are just to the south. It is an international border: bring valid travel documents and check the rules before you go.
