The Eastern Townships turn into a different place four times a year, and the house is set up for all four. Here is what each one looks like from La Villa Foresta.
Winter
Ski by day, fondue by night
Four ski areas are day trips from a Coaticook base: Mont Orford, Owl’s Head, Mont Sutton and Bromont. None is next door, so this is a house for groups who like a drive with a coffee, a full day on the hill and a big table to come back to.
Not skiing? The snowshoes on the den wall set the tone. Then it is fondue, the fire, a robe, and a board game that goes later than planned.

Spring
Maple season, and the trails to yourself
Spring is the quiet one. Sugar shacks are boiling, the meadow greens up a little more each morning, and the trails are muddy and empty. The maple treats are already waiting in the house.
It is a good season for the binoculars and a second coffee on the covered deck.

Summer
The lake is less than five minutes away
Lac Lyster has a beach that looks straight across at the cliff of Mont Pinacle, and the house has beach cruiser bikes and a picnic backpack for getting there in style. Spend the day by the water and the evening at the fire pit with the s’mores supplies.
In the warm months Foresta Lumina lights up the Coaticook Gorge after dark. Check its official site for dates and tickets before you promise the kids.

Autumn
The colours come to you
In the fall the maples along the drive turn red and orange, and Mount Pinacle catches the last light across the meadow. You can see a good share of the season without starting the car.
When you do start it, there are orchards, cheesemakers and back roads in every direction. Bring a sweater for the fire pit.
