The one cookie

If you use the language switch, the site stores a cookie named “lang” with the value “en” or “fr” for one year, so that the site opens in your language next time. It holds nothing else, identifies no one, and is never used for tracking or shared with anyone. You can delete it in your browser whenever you like, and the site works the same without it.

When you check dates and prices

The “Check availability” buttons lead to the booking section of this site, which links to the Airbnb listing. For now this site has no calendar or price checker of its own, so nothing about your dates or your group is sent to us.

When you book

Bookings are handled entirely by Airbnb. The information you give there is governed by Airbnb’s privacy policy, and the host receives what is needed to confirm and manage your stay.

Technology and third parties

The site is hosted on Fly.io servers in Canada, with DNS by Cloudflare. Fonts and images are served from our own server, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts or similar services when you read these pages. Like any web server, ours has to process your IP address and the page you asked for in order to answer you. These providers operate internationally, so this technical information may be communicated outside Québec.

This site links to, and works with, other companies’ platforms. Today that means Airbnb (the listing and bookings) and the official websites of local attractions mentioned in our guides. Vrbo, Booking.com and Lodgify (availability, prices and direct booking) may be added. When you follow a link to one of them, or book through one, that company handles your information under its own privacy policy, not this one.

This describes the main services involved today and is not a complete or permanent list. Like most businesses, we may adopt standard website marketing and measurement tools over time, such as analytics, advertising and email marketing services. If we add tools that use cookies or collect personal information, we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.

Your rights in Québec and Canada

La Villa Foresta is in Québec. Personal information is handled under Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25, and under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where it applies.

The person responsible for the protection of personal information is Jillian Mood. You can ask her what personal information is held about you, ask for access to it, ask to have it corrected, or withdraw a consent you have given. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada oversees the federal law.
